Samy's Ricoh $100 rebate on S1, K-50 & S2

The $200 rebate on the K-3II has already been mentioned here, but I note that my rebate form shows $100 rebates on the cameras listed in the subject line. Sheesh, the K-50 with kit zoom is $249 after the rebate...I'm never gonna be able to sell my used one. The rebate is supposed available at other retailers via Promaster, but I never did find another one that honored the rebate besides Samy's. The offer ends 12/31.

The K-50 is also available on ebay from Samys. They confirmed that ebay sales would also qualify for the rebate. Putting this out there in case you have an ebay bucks offer. Pentax K 50 Digital Camera with 18 55mm Zoom Lens Black | eBay
Good to know. Samy's is also selling the K-50 on Amazon.com for the same price. Will that also qualify for the rebate?

$200 for a K-S1 kit is just ridiculously cheap. That's better than the Q/02 Woot deals 2 years ago.

I would think so, but it would be best to check with them thru Amazon. They were very responsive.

An AA-filterless one at that. Unlike the K-01, this one indeed is ugly IMO like some of the film-era Ricoh DSLRs but the features make it more than compelling at this price.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this one (KS-1). Despite its quirkiness and handling issue, its advantage are size and weight. Better than the Kx which I sold long ago. The sensor as well is very good. I've tried it through the Sony A3000 which I use for my Pentax manual lenses.

$$200 is a very good price assuming no issues with the rebate. This is the concern I'm sure most have.

Please report back if you decide to go for it. I need to thin my collection a little before I buy anything else, but I'm drawn to the KS1. I'm coming from a mixed Pentax/Sony background, and I'm on the verge of offloading my NEX6 to help pave an upgrade path.

Samy's has a special going on where you get a free Pentax AF200FG Flash with the purchase of a K-50. Deal gets even sweeter.

Why would promaster offer a rebate on Pentax cameras?

You have to place the order over the phone so they can zero out the flash before completing the order. Call and speak with Tenny ext. 2161 and you'll get the camera and flash for 349.00.

The rebate form lists both Ricoh and Promaster, but the form goes to Promaster. We can only speculate about their marketing plans, but the Samy's people opined that they wanna get people buying in stores, and if people buy Ricoh cameras then they might buy Promaster accessories.

It looks like this is an ongoing arrangement. I found a link to last years Ricoh/Promaster rebate form:
http://www.natcam.com/media/rebates/Ricoh_Pentax_MIR_Form.pdf
It also looks like National Camera Exchange has a good deal on a closeout K-30 in blue for $299.99:

My head is spinning. That's a brand new K-30 with WR lens for a few bucks more than KEH is selling a used K-30 body. I never saw myself buying a blue camera, but that's an enticing deal. Anyone have any advice between K-30, K-50, and K-S2? The K-30 and the K-50 seem to be built around the same sensor; in my research, the K-S2 appears to have slightly more noise to signal, but will produce a slightly larger image with those extra MPs.

Which way to go? I guess waiting is the answer... soon there will be a glut of holiday specials (I hope).

Looks like the promotion with the flash has ended yesterday. There is $449 price tag then $100 instant promotion and $100 mail-in-rebate that brings out K-50 at about $285 including taxes. I feel it is still a good deal with 18-55 kit lens for a brand new camera. Is there any benefit in getting K-S1 instead of K-50? K-S1 is about $50 cheaper than K-50 after rebate.
