Asahi Super-Takumar 50/1.4 8-Element ($59.99 w/ no bids)
Posted By: ripper2860, 11-16-2015, 08:00 PM

Scouring eBay for a way to spend money I really don't have and ran across a Super-Takumar 50/1.4 8-Element lens. Been sitting at $59.99 with no bidders after a couple of days and now there's only 21 hours left. A rare and coveted version of the Super-Tak 50/1.4. Looks to be in pretty good shape (given its age). If I didn't already have one, I'd keep this all to myself and hopefully snatch it up at far less than I paid for my other, but since I do already own one, then I thought I would share ...

it's really a 8 element base on the image of the lens it's very kind of you to share this !!!
I had my smc 50/1.4 (7 element, I reviewed here) and am so pleased with it that I don't look for the rare 8 element anymore

It indeed seems to be a rarer 8-element version. I love mine mint copy, this one appears to be battered on the outside, glass seems ok but I am always vary of that 'little dust' which often turns out to be a fine layer of it that reduces contrasts and acts as a weak ND filter lowering the light. It nonetheless is a great price and somebody will be happy snatching it for sure It rather wont be somebody from this side of the ocean as the shipping is higher than the starting price at $64.50 !
good luck though to all prospective bidders / a new owner

Still $59.99 w/ 2hrs. remaining.

FYI -- I reached out to the seller asking about Aperture ring, Focus Ring and blades with this response ...

Dear brooklyncamera,

Hello -- can you provide details re: the aperture blades, aperture ring, A/M switch and focus? Are all operating as they should?

Thanks!!

Yeah -- I figured it likely was and if I didn't have one I'd set a snipe entry for it, as well. Still went for a relatively good price. Hopefully to one of our fine and astute members.

Beat me by $1.38, but i really wan't that interested. I just counted - buying various M42 cameras over the years (and receiving some gifts) I've accumulated 5 Super-Tak 55/1.8's, 2 SMC Tak 55/1 8's, 2 K55/1.8's and 6 assorted 50/1.4's from Super-Tak through FA.

Wow! Quite the collection. Would have been a good companion to the K28/2, though. One can never have too many legendary lenses in their collection.

It isn't really a collection. It's more like those houses you hear of piled floor to ceiling with old newspapers bound with twine.

Well I'm happy you have the lens. I no longer seem to have uncontrollable desire to own every single great Pentax lens; as written, I have far too many copies of a few and everything I could possibly want is covered now. (I think 7 55/1.8's with several dupes and 5 50/1.4 - at least no dupes there.). Adding the 8-element to the 7- element at the expense of someone who really wants it would just be glass gluttony.
