Pentax K3 II is $698 with no CA tax at Samys. That price is after a $200 rebate.

This is from their weekly Thursday LA Times front section wrap around ad. It was on page 3 below the fold! KS1 and KS2 were top of page one leaders in previous weeks.

I am tempted and I have a K3! It is only a half hour drive for me.

Glad to hear that Michael. I bit when they had it for $849...and am patiently waiting for the rebate to arrive. Should be soon if your "2 weeks" holds true.

I missed the K-S2 when they had stock, but I grabbed a K-S1 for $179. You can beat that with a stick!

After waiting and watching through BF/CM to make a purchase, I finally placed an order for a K3II with Samy's.

I had contacted Image One Camera to make the most of their supposed $53 price advantage over Samy's. I called ImageOne and I spoke with a manager over the phone. He told me that the Promaster rebate was no longer valid. I was disappointed, but he quickly offered to take an instant $200 off to bring the K3II down to $646.

I was pleasantly surprised, as I'm no real fan of mail in rebates. That said, things turned weird quite quickly. He said that the website order system was not working and that to make the purchase I'd need to email him a photocopy of both the front and back of my credit card and my driver's license.

Uhhhh.... What?

He explained that he "didn't know who I was" and that it was a risk for him to make the sale without this "verification".

The entire conversation made every alarm bell in my brain begin to ring.

Very uncomfortable with what was being offered to me by this Image One manager, I completed my K3II purchase with Samy's.

I haven't gotten it yet, but tip of the cap to Samy's for just selling a camera online like a normal store.

Being in Oz I can't take advantage of any of these Samy's deals but I did have a look at the website just for giggles. And........$249 for a K50 with a 18 - 55 zoom. WOW, what a deal!!. If I lived in the US I'd get one just as a backup, even though I don't need another camera.

This morning's ad had the same <$700 price. Additionally it is a "no tax sale"

Alas, it was below the fold on page 3.
