Don't forget your credit card company will charge 2.5-3% for currency exchange, so right around $2650 Cdn. At least for today, wait a week and Camera Canada's price might be a bargain. Still a better price than McBain's ($2750) or The Camera Store ($2800).

Unfortunately, I won't be buying this lens anytime soon. Some of my best customers are in the oil and gas industry, so my sales bonus cheques are going to be pretty small for a while. By the time I can afford this lens there should be a new APS-C body out with K-1 components, which will also delay being able to afford the 150-450. Who knows, perhaps by the time I can afford it, there will be rumours of an DA* 18-1000mm f2.8 constant aperture zoom that I can save my loonies for.

That depends on your credit card company. I have Capital One which does not charge a conversion fee. I got it before a trip to the UK just for that reason. Similarly, my ATM card doesn't charge for conversions at ATM machines in foreign countries, but does charge a $1 out of network fee. It was totally worth it, as we didn't have to worry about carrying around large sums of foreign currency while traveling.

1.760,- USD would be a dream price of approximately 1613,- €. Until now I haven't seen a price below 2.199,- € in Germany ... unfortunately. Think it's the same in whole Europe.

Adam, can a post be unliked?

I paid about $500 more for mine last summer. I never thought it would drop this low. I got it for a trip to Yellowstone that ,unfortunately, never happened. Heck of a price for one heck of a lens. A 10 in my book.

Hah! Just today The Houston Camera Exchange, which is closing out its Pentax stock, offered me a "deal" of just $2125! Such a deal!

I'm gonna buy this lens, it's just a matter of time ......time until Otis hacks Mrs Rupert's new brokerage accounts password. He is trying millions of combinations on his code breaking app.....he knows her....it is using mostly things like "hatesquirrels" "shootsquirrels" "eliminatesquirrels"...he's on the right track, he'll get it soon!

Regards!

Apologies

Ok. I know this is an idiotic, probably unanswerable, question but does anyone have any reasonable estimation of how likely the price is to go down more (or jump back up)? How much more/less are Canikon equivalents? Are there Canikon equivalents (of course not! they are not Pentax)

As someone who purchased mine at 9% off, I hope it doesn't go any lower. I'm starting to feel bad enough as it is.

In all seriousness though I really don't see it as going much, if any, lower. This is an excellent lens and when the full frame comes out I can see the price going up a bit. Even for what I paid for it, I still think that it was worth it.

If you were in there for the SMC-K 50mm f/1.2 they had at $190, I'm the reason it wasn't in there. Stumbled onto that find while in town for a wedding.

Actually I was looking at tripods. I didn't even know they had any Pentax stuff left. These days they are "all in" on Nikon, Canon, and Sony. I did ask about the 1.4x rear converter, but they didn't have any.

It's a good place to buy a tripod. They have a gazillion of them, so you can really try them out and see which is most comfortable for you.
