The price of this lens sold/sourced from Amazon itself is now $269.95 - the same price as at Adorama and B&H.
Amazon also offers this lens for $249.72, but it's sold by 6ave and fulfilled by Amazon. In posts below, bladerunner6 cautions about the lack of manufacturer's warranty when buying from 6ave. For what it's worth, I emailed 6ave and they told me the lenses they're selling aren't grey market and the Pentax warranty is valid.
But, as always, do your own research to be sure...

FYI the one on Amazon is covered under Pentax warranty.

That is correct; it is covered by the Pentax 1-Year Warranty and that's not less than usual. Only thing less than usual is that in Canada it is a 2-Year Warranty. Lucky canucks

I picked one up off eBay used but if I had waited I could have gotten this one new for not much more. I haven't tried it yet but have also heard very good things, especially it's performance at the long end (where most lenses of that focal length tend to lose a lot of sharpness). LBA is a strong force my friend

Amazon, I do believe is an authorized retailer. 6ave is gray market and no warranty, however.

That is why I said the lens at $255 is a better deal.

Now Amazon is about as inexpensive as any of them.

When I originally posted, I believe the price I listed was for the lens sold by Amazon itself.
But, circumstances - and prices - seem to shift quickly.

This lens was 450 dollars when released in late 2013. I got it for a 'good deal' price of 395 dollars several months later (through a Canadian vendor on ebay). Now its just 246 dollars. hahahaha. Another reminder for me to not buy early.

This lens hunts and hunts and hunts when it loses focus and it seems to go to min focus before doubling back to infinity even if it is only a micromilimeter away from correct focus. So keep that in mind and prepare to work around it (I've shot several airshows and only missed a handful of shots out of hundreds). There is no focus lock.

That said, its rather sharp stopped down, Weather resistant, and lightweight for the focal range. It is on my camera more than not.
