I have never heard of this retailer though.

They could go with a lower price if they offered a package with a 128MB memory card...

Nikon must have recovered their R&D costs on this camera long ago - they can afford the cut, I imagine - and maybe it's a co-incidence - maybe we soon get an upgrade - either way, the K-1 is a unique camera, not in direct competition - I think the turf Pentax and Nikon are competing on is very small

If a K-1 is worth 1900, a D810 isn't worth even that much. No SR, no pixel shift, it's an inferior camera, nd a shutter mechanism that shakes the camera without a heavy tripod, extra weight and a remote shutter release.. That's not enough IMHO. It should be about $1300, that would make it attractive.

No, this is not a price war. Only a fool would "buy" from a site like that. Good luck getting the camera. A reputable site like B&H still lists the camera for $2700+

I'd still only pay $1300 for one even from B&H. I've seen fellow photographers glued onto their tripods trying to get an image, in a spot I left 10 or 15 minutes before. I'm walking around trying out different angles. They were trying to make sure they got one decent image. It's hard to want to buy that.

Carbon fiber compact tripod $350, D810 body $2800, Nikkor 200-400 f4 lens $7000, taking pictures for enjoyment priceless.

Not only no SR and Pixel Shift;

- no AA filter simulator
- no GPS built in
- no WiFi built in
- no retractable LCD
- no Astrotracer

And despite lacking all these, it's $1000 more expensive than K-1 !!

What you do get is better video,
and more sophisticated AF. Even then, it's not as if those features are totally absent on the K-1, just not as sophisticated.

The contrast between the K-1 and D810 is stark.

Also don't forget that the 810 is older and the way it is made may be more costly due to changes in automation and methods. It is tough to compare prices across at this point. Leapfrogging is a pain.

Quick Stop Digital Reviews - quickstopdigital.com/ Consumer Reviews at ResellerRatings

You can easily spot where they put in their own "5 star" ratings, mainly because they are cut-paste from other NYC camera place reviews.

Probably gray market. No warranty in the USA, which is not a good idea. However the price is awesome! Despite all the naysayers, this is an awesome camera, with Zeiss lenses produces tremendous quality images.
