Amazon: Sigma 8-16 NEW!!
Posted By: Kozlok, 04-07-2016, 04:07 PM

I recently saw an ad on Amazon for a Sigma 8-16, listed as NEW, from japan. Current price is listed at $545.43. I paid $524 when I ordered.

I took a chance, and got my lens today. It took about a week and a half for it to arrive, but it is brand new, perfect copy.

I used the seller Kawaii Japan.

It's a great lens, just a tad big and heavy. I have a use for it way more often than I actually have it with me.

They are still available in K mount. B&H or Adorama do not carry them. Sigma has the on their website. I ordered one a few weeks ago that was fulfilled by Amazon for $524 USD. It was here in two days, Prime shipping. It is heavy but I am use to heavy lenses. It sure is something to use. I am still trying to get use to mine.

Sigma makes a batch of the 8-16 for K-mount from time to time - the last was in... late 2014, I think?

I just love this lens for its sharpness. Use it all the time for architectural work. Have also used it for astro with great results enough thought it is not very fast.

I also like this lens for astrophotography. It is rectilinear; not fisheye. Here I posted a comparison.

Tess says we'll be on the next plane out. I hope you like border collies. They love swimming.

I wonder, though, if you get a lens with an issue how much of a headache it would be to get it replaced or fixed.

If you want to get it replaced, you might have to be prepared to ship it back to Japan.

If there is a problem with the lens, will Sigma honor the warranty if the lens was bought overseas?

I've had this lens a couple of years now. I think I've used it twice - I keep forgetting I have it!
