I know it's not common, but is it really worth that much? Hey, if I were the sort of person to whom $7600 is pocket change I would buy it, but I am not one of them.

One sold in auction 'recently' for US$1600 - I could not go that high, but, I was tempted.

Sorry, wrong model. It was a Black 'S' that went for that much. Much rarer than the Black 'K' so no I would not even contemplate such a price.

Especially one with brassed edges. $7,600 CDN (+/- $6,000 USD)?. An FA*600/4 can be had for that money.

Based on what others have said, a brand new K-1 and all its Trinity lenses can also be had for that money.

Less.

The black 'K' is very collect-able. But that price is simply silly.

I suspected as much. Nevertheless I have put it on watch list and shall find out in due course if someone actually pays that much for it. At least they don't have to sweat the meter not working!

Off by a factor of 10, perhaps.

somewhere between US$500-$1000 for a good condition working copy would attract attention I would imagine. Perhaps still a little hgih for me, but, I can see others pulling the trigger at those prices.

One of the reasons time travel should be banned is that mint collectible cameras would suddenly be freely available, distorting the market until the implications were realised.

One of the reasons it should be permitted is that the parts bins for cameras going out of production could be found and looted before they were disposed of (this is one of the premises of Connie Willis's SF novel To Say Nothing of the Dog - taking things from the past is permitted if they are about to be destroyed; otherwise the spacetime continuum rejects the transfer).
