Ha, the general consenseus among Vivitar fans is that these some of theugliest lenses ever made. Nice collectible, though, especially with the original case.

Also, note that linked from the item there is another set listed for $276, albeit in Nikon mount:

So the clientele for that kind of camera equipment is not the kind you'd want to invite over for dinner huh?

OK, OK, that will do...

As a proud owner of one of these sets (#18 out of 50), in K-mount trim, I can only surmise that you're all just envious (LOL) (LOL).

As far as the lenses' appearances go, I would admit that the V.4 VS1 70-210 (whether black or gold) is not as good looking as are the V.2 and V.3 VS1 70-210's (IMHO), but the VS1 28-105/2.8-3.8 (the other lens in the set) is pretty good looking, I think. YMMV...

As for the gold LX and gold 50/1.2, I have no interest (even if I had the money) (which I don't). However, the gold Vivitar 50th Anniversary set appeals to me as a Vivitar aficionado. So, here's my gold V.4 VS1 70-210 along with all the other VS1 70-210 manual focus lenses -

HTML Code:

VS1 70-210/3.5 - V.1 - (Kiron) - SN 22nnnnnn - (67mm) - m42, K

VS1 70-210/3.5 - V.2 - (Tokina) - SN 37nnnnnn - (62mm) - m42, K

VS1 70-210/2.8-4 - V.3 - (Komine) - SN 28nnnnnn - (62mm) - m42, K, Ka

VS1 70-210/2.8-4 - V.4a - (Cosina) - SN 09nnnnnn - (58mm) - m42(?), Ka

VS1 70-210/2.8-4 - V.4b - (Cosina) - SN nn - (58mm) - Ka

VS1 70-210/2.8-4 - V.5 - (Cosina) - SN 09nnnnnn - (58mm) - Ka

VS1 70-210/2.8-4 - V.6 - (Cosina) - SN 09nnnnnn - (62mm) - Ka
