Heiland-branded Pentax H3 with what looks like reversed aperture ring Super Tak lens
Posted By: pathdoc, 05-26-2016, 08:52 AM

Vintage Pentax H3 Honeywell Heiland Camera W Asahi Super Takumar Lens | eBay

Make it yours for $40 US plus shipping! Ideal for the Sunny Sixteen/handheld meter addict who hasn't got a Heiland in their collection. Even comes with a coldshoe mount for flash!

I suspect for my American colleagues the shipping would be substantially reduced by the lack of need to pay duties, making this an even better deal.

The second model Auto-Takumar 55/1.8 had a reversed aperture ring. It was then re-released as a Super-Takumar with slight changes. In all there were three Super-Takumar models...

Thanks, Boris. I've looked at the specs on the various 55 1.8 lenses but never noticed that fact.

It looks just like mine! The is a recent thread where Ole asked for photos of various M42 lenses for the review database. In the course of getting the photos, it came out that there are now three known versions of the ST 55/1.8. The database page has been updated and Ole has published a collage with all known 55/1.8 variants (notice the position of the IR index on the two early version ST vs. the later models):

That's a very nice tool.

I know I'm opening up a can of worms by asking, but what is everyone's favorite 55 1.8? I love the looks of the zebra but I've never used any of them.

What, if anything, is the difference between the Super Multi Coated and the SMC, apart from the obvious external trim? Slightly improved multi-coating process? Or did they change the formula?

It has been my understanding that only the cosmetics changed between S-M-C and SMC. A little Google work seems to confirm that notion.

I have an Asahi SV late model (v2). Can I sneak an H3 v2 into the house on the premise that I don't have a camera with this top plate engraving nor a 55/1.8 m42 (#7) with this aperture mechanism?

Seller states "powers on". In a pre-Spotmatic? Sorry, no.

Look very closely in the last image at the shutter curtain. Seller claims the camera is in very good condition. There is no claim it is working. The typical "Please see the pictures" safe harbor is invoked.

Nice lens and a free camera, for $48.15 shipped, plus $75 shipped to Eric.
