Is this supposed to be a better lens than the new upcoming 300mm zoom lens? since it is HD, I am curious.

Both have the HD coating. The new lens has a slightly slower aperture (F4.5-6.3) and focus-by-wire, but fast & silent AF. We'll see about the image quality, as it has a new optical formula. If I were to guess, though, it might not be better since small size tends to come at a price.

So I guess it will be up to users to decide

I've seen some images posted that make it look otherwise, but at all aperture settings and with no hood, I got substantial vignetting and blurry edges/corners. I still like the lens for crop use--just don't want folks to be disappointed on the K-1.

I was all set to take advantage of this, ahead of an upcoming WDW trip that will include Animal Kingdom... then I saw they had a used copy for $250, so I ended up with that instead.

(Until that, I'd been having no luck finding any used copies anywhere that were any cheaper than new.)

They currently have an Open Box copy for $235 that includes the full manufacturer's warranty, but it doesn't say anything about whether the accessories are included. There must be some reason it's priced lower than the other used copy that isn't Open Box.

Please do thorough focusing tests to ensure you don't have any de-centering and you have no back/front focus (might need AF adjustment in the camera and the previous owner didnt realize this) issues.

Also please test at infinity. I had a lens that refused to focus at infinity.. despite AF adjustments, despite going to repair 3x.. eventually the lens was replaced because it was a bad apple. That isn't to scare you but to inform -- I've also bought other used lenses and they were super sharp out of the gate.

This should be a super lens for WDW due to the range and the lightness..
