B&H just jacked up their prices on Pentax gear.
Posted By: sarge, 07-01-2016, 12:23 AM

It looks like B&H jacked up all their prices on Pentax gear.
I was going to order a 35mm Macro Limited but they just raised the price about $80.00.
Won't be ordering it now!

It's a new month, so they likely haven't uploaded July's deals/pricing yet. Things tend to fluctuate quite a bit.

Stay tuned for my weekly roundups in this forum for the latest deals.

Yes I have noticed prices are very erratic.
Hopefully they will drop in the next few days.

This is typical. I do all my camera shopping from "Black Friday" to about the 1st week of January. That's the time when everything is at its cheapest. I do it all online. Can't stand walking into stores around those times.

I can't imagine why with what they delivered me today (see link below)

I just posted this under the Q discussion, but I saw this and became further angered by my experience.

I've never seen the inside of a camera store! And being inside of any store during Black Friday is a dangerous affair haha.. I've seen people fight over toasters.

If you track Pentax lens prices, that actually often isn't the case.

We'll soon have a feature on the homepage where you can see the current price in relation to historical prices.

Quite likely this unusually high price will be next week's 'Was' price, with '$80 off', bringing it back to the usual price.
It's a very common marketing strategy. In the UK it's known as DFS pricing, due to a well known furniture store that sets an artificially high price for a few weeks a year, so that for the rest of the year they can legally put '70% off' on the ticket.

That is similar to how a lot of the BF sale prices go anyways.. raise the prices by 30% a week or two before the sale, on sale day lower the prices by 25%. WOW WHAT A DISCOUNT 25 per cent off.

No, you're paying 5% over normal cost.

Uhm . .

1x * (1 + .3) = 1.3x (30% price increase)

1.3x * (1 - .25) = .975x. (25% off 30% price increase)

It isn't much of a Sale Price, but it's still a sale price.

No. I wasn't saying a quarter off of the 30% increase. I was saying raise 30% of 100 (example) so $130. Then take away 25% of the discount from the initial 100 so a 19.23% reduction from the increase. Or 105.

I guess that's the new Common Core math I've heard about.
