F* & FA* goodies on ebay
Posted By: UncleVanya, 10-07-2016, 09:48 PM

disclaimer: I know the seller this is an old friend of the family's son. These items however are special and rare to get in great condition. I own some of his old items and all are in top shape. I have not inspected these items but his integrity is excellent. He has no idea I'm promoting these here. My goal is simple. I want these to stay in the family so to speak. I know people here care about lenses like these. He is moving to a more video oriented camera brand so these need new homes. I'm only posting links to the rarer items. Search his other items if you want. More stuff pops up every few days.

First up is the rare FA* 80-200 f 2.8. Pentax Pentax P FA 80 200mm F 2 8 If Ed Lens | eBay

Next an F* 300 f4.5 Pentax 300mm F 4 5 Lens Lightly Used Excellent Condition Fast and Clear | eBay

FA* 24 f2 Pentax Pentax SMCP FA 24mm F 2 Lens for Pentax | eBay

A 20 f2.8 Pentax Pentax SMCP FA 20mm F 2 8 Lens for Pentax | eBay (incorrectly labeled FA)

He has other less rare items like FA limiteds (43/77) and a DA lens or two listed.

The 20mm is an A-series lens, not FA.

the FA*80-200 is getting a bit of a bashing since the DFA*70-200 came out. Wrongly accused in my books. I have the FA*80-200 and have compared to other highly favoured compares. It kicks the proverbial!!!! I am yet to test against the DFA* but I really cannot say it would be much better! So I support promotion of such a fine lens.

Hey Mark. Pop over to Adelaide and we can arrange a head to head between the FA* and the DFA* zooms. I suspect you might be surprised.

The F*300/4.5 is an amazing lens, and remarkably compact. If I didn't have the DA*300 already I would be all over it.

I also have the FA20 and FA*24, and they certainly have their charms. Neither stack up against the DFA15-30 though (except for size of course). And yes, the 20mm lens in the OP is the A, not the FA....

Yes you are correct. I was tired. Lol. I'm not sure why he has it mislabeled.

Pleased to do so. I truly want to behold the challenge personally. I suspect 'published' comparisons have used 'poor' copies of the FA*80-200. I think my copy is really fine and perhaps among to cream, hence the vigour of my appreciation.

I am not saying the DFA*70-200 is the same or worse. What I am saying is its reported 'supremacy' over the former model is perhaps a little over stated.

This said, the 15-30 does interest me. Letting go of the FA20/2.8 might be difficult though.

Oh yeah. If you pop around, bring some of your other stuff. There are some amazing lenses in your signature; I haven't even heard of the FA*31, FA*43 and FA*80

Sandy. I've seen very underwhelming reviews of the 15-30 but was hoping it might replace several older lenses including FA 24. But you seem to hold it inhigh regard could you elaborate a bit? Thanks.

Without wishing to de-rail this thread....

My Single In July challenge was with the DFA15-30. The images can be seen HERE

THIS ALBUM has some direct comparisons between the DFA15-30 and my DA10-17, FA20 and FA*24

It is not a perfect lens, and mine is probably not a perfect copy. Look closely at some of the shots made towards the sun and you will see some flare and loss of contrast, especially in the top right corner. I reckon I'll be keeping my DA15 and DA21 for the foreseeable future for those sort of situations.

Yeah I made them myself :P (
)

I should fix that - had awful troubles doing the signature, always causes me trouble and I just gave up.

Definately not bought by an Australian or Canadian.... was a very nice clean example though.

Hopefully it was a real sale. His first time listing some scammer tried to offer him extra money to ship "to his son overseas". No payment was made and no further contact was made after he said he could only ship to s PayPal verified address.
