Not sure if this is actually a deal, but the price does not seem that high for such a lens.

If I may ask, why did you sell yours? Were you dissatisfied with the performance? I've always wished I had this lens...

Thanks, Bob

it's an excellent lens but big and heavy as you would expect on a 2.8...i have no complaints with mine but do have the da 300 f4 so alot easier to just grab the lighter one ...plus i generally shoot outdoors in decent light so i don't have to have 2.8

I also have the DA* 300 and it is a fine optic but it doesn't always fire after obtaining focus which is unacceptable plus, when you at the 1.4 tc to it you're at 5.6 and shooting birds in the bush can get a little dark. I'm tempted to do the sigma but even at $1,700 its a chunk of change... So you basically don't use your Sigma 300 2.8?

I would say i don't use it enough to justify what i paid for but i got it new...i also have the sigma 500 so i tend to use that more

On the contrary, it was an awesome lens. I wasn't using it too much and I needed the money for some other purchases.

I just bought the Sigma 500 used this past Spring and like it a lot but I can see the need for the 300 in a blind with the 1.4 tc.. You might try it in those darker/closer encounters with wild critters ;-)

Yes, money can be a problem in this hobby... I could by the new K1 or the used Sigma 300 but not both. Since I really like my K3 and K3ll I'm leaning towards the Sigma!

if you like taking pictures of critter i would stick with the k3 and go for the lens...i have both k1 and k3 and k3 much better for critters/birds
