And even at $1,850, it still includes the gift card, memory card, and shoulder bag!

Too little and too late PENTAX. I'm super disappointed at Pentax deals this year overall. I was hoping to jump ship to Pentax and grab some deals but they kept their prices super high this season. Maybe next year, will see.

As of today, Dec. 24th 2016, Amazon is offering the K-1 body-only at the same $1849 USD price.

I used to think that way. But the past couple of years have now changed my mind. I think this is a more long term pricing scheme of not really doing significant sales. Even the K-3 wasn't LARGELY on discount in the past year and it was discontinued. Instead, they bundled (lens, grip, flash) items with it. boo!

I think now any 'discounts' on this camera, in the next year, will more likely be from changes in currency valuation... they seem rather stingy with the sales.

If you wanted super sales this year, you wanted the Nikon D3400 or Canon's equivalent cheapo body. Pentax didn't budge on their prices.

So what?

If the gear was what you wanted, and you had the money, you bought it. Whining on a forum isn't going to hurt Pentax' feelings.

Or the D750 refurb which was at 1250 USD. I think the 6d refurb was also pretty low too.

Interesting that Pentax doesn't do refurb sales, but maybe that is due to them not having a ton of market share and thus not a lot of product on the market to refurb and resell.

But I don't see it as whining or a goal of hurting anyone's feelings. More disappointment in the view of wanting to buy if the price was right. I have the money to buy it at MSRP. It doesn't mean I'm necessarily buying at MSRP if the product is known to go on sale...

The K-1 has *always* sold for under $2000 and is very competitive. Compare it to the similar Nikon D810 which is the most similar competition and see who is "super high". Would you be happier if Pentax said the K-1 costs $3000 with a $1000 rebate?

(Some of the APS-C lenses are priced too high and should be permanently reduced but that's not what this thread is about.)

The K1 is still the best DSLR anywhere near it's price range. Nothing can really touch it. I so want a K1 but right now even with the deals I can not do it. I do not blame Richoh for my lack of funds. For what you are getting with a K1 compared to everything else out there no one should be complaining about the price.

I love my K1, and it was well worth every penny I paid for it.

I must admit that I'll never use many of it's fancy/advanced features (GPS, Astrotracing, Second card slot, Tilty Screen, etc.).

I would love to see a stripped down K1 offered at maybe a lower price. I'd buy one in a heartbeat for a back up camera.

If I remember correctly the K-1 was $1799 when it came out, then Pentax pumped the price to $1999 or something like that.
Actually I was hunting for deals on K-3II or K70, but noting was offered for the holidays, I'm still hoping for some discounts on those crop cameras.

I do not think we will see any major deals on the K70. At $650 US the K70 is already a pretty good deal. The K50 had a launch price of $700 and the K70 is a way bether camera. The KS-2 has been holding steady on price. The major deals now are on bundles. The K3ii is $850 US and comes with a grip. Most likely that price will hold until another flagship APS-C camera comes out.
