KEH: 15% off third-party lenses
Posted By: WillWeaverRVA, 01-03-2017, 08:13 AM

KEH is currently running a promotion on its third-party lenses (Sigma, Tamron, etc) - take 15% off if you use the promo code LENS01E.

They've currently got a Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art in "excellent" condition for $648...it becomes $551 after this discount.

KEH has almost no K-mount inventory. It's really sad...

Though I did just buy a Tamron 01F Flat Field 2x TC for just $6 more than Roberts has it for on eBay...well $12 more after shipping...

KEH is all about turn these days. They don't even list the good stuff - they serve as lens locators for interested parties - and they don't buy the more common lenses any more.

photographer has so much more choices selling used equipments these days. I tried their on line quote system, tried a lens that they asked for ~$700, and they could only pay me ~$200-300 if I sell. no way I would sell anything to them.

Anyone sold to KEH before?

I once thought KEH was fair. Sure, they buy and mark up to sell, but they're like coin, stamp, jewelry and antique dealers - you have to say NO when the price is just wrong. I once trusted eBay, too, so there you go.

Some years ago KEH had a Buying Show at a B&M Dealer here. My experience was somewhere between disappointed and outraged. They bid around 35% of retail, and actually tried to claim the best lens in the lot was fungused.

I didn't sell.

I went to San Antonio once when they had a booth at imaging USA. I felt outraged too. I didn't sell of course, and almost want to talk to sellers the I want to buy their stuff at better price. they trashed everything handed in their hands.

I sent them some lenses last year because I wanted to fund a 16-85. I told them to send them back after they offered half of what the online quote was...

They are essentially estate liquidators. We're too informed. They can't compete with eBay and The Marketplace, so they've stopped carrying Pentax.
