Thank you, free is always very cool!!! But of course it's also marketing out to harvest email addresses, which can be sold, resold, and so on. So there is some small print that's worth considering before jumping on the download train:

marketingsmallprint1: For Pentax DSLRs Pro9 supports only: Pentax K-10D, Pentax K-20D, Pentax K-3, Pentax K-30, Pentax K-200D, Pentax K-01, Pentax K-5, Pentax K-5 II, Pentax K-5 II s , Pentax K-50, Pentax K-500, Pentax K-7, Pentax K-m, Pentax K-r, Pentax K-x, Pentax MX-1

marketingsmallprint2: "DxO OpticsPro 9 is exclusively compatible with the following OS: • Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 • Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), 10.10 (Yosemite) System requirements • 400 MB available disk space • 2 GB RAM minimum

I'm in marketing myself...

A thread from last December about it:

DxO OpticsPro 9 - free - PentaxForums.com

For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any extra junk mail since I picked this up, or from when they gave away version 8 two (??) years ago. Still, I didn't use my primary email.

Cool beans x2, yeah -- non-monitored second email account (read gmail) is way I deal with spam too, think everyone must know that trick =)

Is this good as a standalone software I believe?
How do people find this as I've been looking for RAW processing options...

You can't beat free!

One of the better Raw converters, their "Prime" noise reduction is very good.... but slow.... so I only use it for K5 type images when >iso1600 or real keepers that I might print large. Not so good for minor touch ups etc (eg brushes).

Never used any RAW converters other than the SilkyPix3 that came with my camera (and seemed pretty crappy) so I'll download this when I get the chance and see how it goes.

For fun... take a real noisey image.... run it through DXO with prime noise reduction.... then export it as a tiff.... then run the tiff through "Piccure" ( has a one month free trial).... will extend the usable ISO of your camera by one stop over lightroom.

Same here. I did use my primary BTW. no problems so far.
Had the 8 on my old laptop, installed the 9 on my desktop last December. Just downloaded and installed 9 on my ASUS 2 in one.

Does that mean that if we have a K-1 or K-70, it wont work with this software ? Even if we already shoot in DNG (not PEF)?

I believe so. In order to get support for the newer bodies, you have to pay.

Nothing.... I have used DXO since version 9..... paid for it...I'm using version 11 now. I haven't noticed much change in their Prime noise reduction option .... it's meant to run a bit quicker in version 10 and 11 but my Mac is so slow it's academic.

So it understands DNGs from K-1 and PEFs from K-5ii?
