SanDisk 128GB Extreme UHS-I SDXC Memory Card SDSDXNF-128G-GNCIN

I got my older K-30 working but ran out of memory cards and so I popped over to B&H and found this for sale.

What is the difference between this one, and the newer version that has the v30 spec?

This one says it' "up to" 60mb/s write, while the other one with V30 says "up to 60mb/s write also (thought I have seen other sites that say "up to 40mb/s write), but the v30 spec has a minumum write speed of 30mb/s "garanteed", and the v30 one is more expennsive too...
I think they try to confuse the customers....

My mistake it wasn't Adam that explained it, it was this guy:

The new spec for speed baseline for video taking. V30 guarantees minimum sustained performance of 30MB/sec

Yes I have seen that... but the one for sale here is the previous version... does that mean it won't be able to stand at least a 30mb/s when doing, for example, 4.4 fps photo burst @50mb each for the K-1?

How does that compares to the Extreme Pro version ? Would we have a gain compared to the one in sale here ?
This is not clear in my mind...
cheers

You will have to wait on someone who knows those answers. First of all I don't own a K-1, and secondly I don't do videos.

Well they are the same speed wise. So they should perform the same. The cards on sale (the older version) is an old version that isn't particularly bench marked for the video and are being cleared out. I am tempted to get one too.

The Extreme Pro versions are obviously better cards. They are faster and more robust (durable) with a better controller in them. Most extreme pro versions are U3 Class 10 UHS-II. UHS-II cards are easily 60mb/s and extreme pro versions specs it at 90mb/s of guaranteed write speeds. Given the spec they would obviously be more expensive. I get frustrated with the way these memory cards are closely spec'ed out with the convention gimmickry the manufacturers are playing with.
So there are U1 Class 10s (the typically low cost ones) , There are U3 class 10s with UHS-I speeds (attractively priced and the V30 and extreme named ones belong to) and there U3 class 10s with UHS-II speeds (the black ones or extreme pro versions).
There is also an intermediate rated card which is better than V30 but less performing than the extreme pro versions. They call it extreme plus (U3 class 10 UHS-I but higher write speed than V30).

If you are still with me so far then good luck shopping. But bottom line you still get what you pay for as long as you are not buying from a dubious retailer or a knock off.

This website tries to put sense into those labels. Hope this helps.

Yes it helped, thanks, but I'll pass on this one... waiting for good deals on Extreme Plus or Pro instead...

At one point I thought that Extreme PLus were simply renamed just "Extreme", because their specs were looking similar, but after the explanations of shardulm (Thanks to you too!)... seems it's not the case
