I ordered the unit yesterday and it arrived today, despite opting for free shipping. Seems to work fine from a quick check.
I want to use a bracket so that I can position the flash to one side of the camera for macro shooting. I'm assuming I will need a hot shoe adaptor on the bracket with a threaded hole so that I can attach it, but I'm wondering whether I need a hot shoe adaptor on my K-3, or whether I can connect a cable to the x-sync socket on the camera (if not, then I'm wondering what the socket is for?).
Any advice would be appreciated - I don't want to order things I don't need.

You need the
1- PENTAX Off-camera Shoe Adapter F(on the off side bracket, put the AF-200FG Flash on it)
2- Pentax F5P 3' Extension Cord
3- PENTAX Hot Shoe Adapter FG :

Other cheaper option would be to use an optical flash trigger like that, if you already have another flash on the camera


but you lose TTL and are in complete manual mode

I can report that I also got my flash after two days, in perfect shape. Small, simple (to simple?) and well made.

I don't have much knowledge or experience with flash, but would like to try this for macro shots of flowers and insects. The PF review says "The flash can be used off camera, wired, but the required 5P synch cord and hot-shoe adapters are somewhat expensive." Can anyone recommend a synch cord and arm/adaptor that could be ordered with this, or should I just go with a higher level unit?

Thanks Greg but my order is in now - the cost of the adaptors and connector is a lot more than I saved on the flash, but hopefully it will all be worth it.
By the way, I don't see the flash duration for the AF-200FG in the manual - does anyone have any idea what it is?
