Posted By: krazykat, 06-20-2017, 09:16 PM

I just got an email, 15% off Pentax Australia web store, store-wide. Code is '15EOFY'.

For example, you can get the DFA 24-70 for $1699.15 or the DA 17-70 for AU$169.15.

Offer valid for 21-23 June.

Just ordered Pentax HD DA 55-300mm WR f/4.5-6.3 ED PLM RE Lens for $424 AUD. If interested search code 21277 because it's not in the standard listings.

$2,124.15. Which equates to about $1,600 USD. Damn good price. If I didn't already have one, I'd jump on that.

Cool. Just bought a Pentax 55-300 PLM lens and Sandisk Ultra 16GB SD card for AU$442 (US$335). A real bargain!

It would have been nice to get the Pentax AF360 FGZ II flash too but I couldn't see it listed. Is it available?

I'm curious about this.

The K-1 shutter is [nominally] rated for 300k clicks. That produces some interesting numbers.

In APS-C mode K-1 can do 6.5fps, meaning you could [theoretically - 6.5 x 3600] do 23400 clicks / hour (about 561600 clicks per day), meaning you'd hit the 300k shutter rating in a mere 13 hours of continuous use.

In full-frame mode K-1 can do 4.4fps, so you can shoot a more modest 15840 clicks / hour (about 380160 clicks per day), so you'd hit the 300k shutter rating in about 19 hours of continuous use.

Or you could relax, and only shoot about 1000 K-1 shots a day in any mode for a whole year (give or take the odd public holiday) before exceeding the shutter rating.

But overall, to get 600k clicks in total out of a K-1, you'd probably need a second K-1 handy (300k + 300k).

Hi guys,

So for AUD$2490 I can get a K-1 body, plus the battery grip and an extra battery - for the equivalent of USD$1880 at today's exchange rates.

The wife will kill me if she finds out . . . .

All my lenses are black too

My standard technique is buy a lens and stick it in the cupboard for 3 months. Then when I pull it out & the wife asks if it's a new lens I reply "Nah, I've had it for months."
