Here i was thinking there were new things to come, and they wanted to reduce inventory.

Only $5496.95! Practically giving them away.

Not unexpected. The 645Z is over 3 years old now, and the world has a lot more 42 MP, 45MP and 51MP cameras today than it did in 2014.

Wouldn't be surprising if they refreshed the 645Z in 2018. I wonder what sensor they'll pick...but around 100MP would make sense.

Yes I think we'll see 100 MP too.. 80MP bare minimum.

It is amazing to me thinking about the 645D not but 4 or 5 years ago and how it seemed unreal to have such a high resolution sensor in camera.. now that seems to be the baseline (not considering physical sensor size).

My guess its in response to Fuji making their MF very "affordable" right now.

Now Adorama is also offering 4% back in rewards on top of the instant rebate. The battle is on!

They do the 4% in rewards pretty often on the 645Z. I got it on mine a couple of years ago, but it's nice to see the price coming down regardless.

Under normal circumstances, and with other brands, I would view this as the normal approach to the end of the marketing cycle before the new model came out.

In the case of the 645z, which essentially had no marketing, at least in the US, I'm not so sure. Pentax seems to have so little interest in the 645z I'm left wondering how much motivation exists to produce a successor. Particularly with the slow pace of new lens development.

Of course, you could argue that the 645D wasn't pushed all that hard either, and we did get a 645z.

Regardless, I think I would prefer to see an increased/improved support presence and some new modern lenses more than a new body.
