DA 18-270mm at record low price
Posted By: Adam, 10-11-2017, 12:53 AM

If you're looking for an all-in-one lens, amazon currently has the Pentax 18-270mm at almost $100 below its average price this year. This is the lowest price we've seen in 18 months!

What was that low price ? Reading this post one week later, it's hard to know if this is still a deal or not. Currently $454 as I type this, $105 more than the Sigma 18-250 . A lot to pay for those last 20mm.

The full price history is available here, below the specs table:
SMC Pentax-DA 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 ED SDM Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

Looks like the price was $424 when I posted this, it has since gone up by around $30.

If you're looking for more reach, I'd go for the new Sigma 18-300mm, which is actually a little bit cheaper. The only tradeoff is the lack of in-camera corrections.

Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC MACRO HSM Contemporary Lens 886109

Thanks. Indeed, the Sigma looks like a better option. Not sure if I will go for it as I already own the Tamron 18-250. Now if we could get the Tamron 18-400 in a Pentax version...

Amen to that, especially if it were WR. That would be enough of a capability jump to make me think about replacing my 18-250.
