Interestingly, with the slide in the AUD$ to 76 cents US in the last couple of days, the Australian price with the discount equates to about US$1430.

I love the idea of a K-1, but I'm forced to admit that my limited photo time probably could be captured well enough with my 2005 Casio

The 2005 Casio probably cost close to what the K-1 is selling for on sale. My 2007 purchase of the K10d and kit lens was only a couple of hundred less than the K-1 is selling for now without taking inflation into account.

I was throwing out some old receipts and found the invoice for my K-5 purchase (got it from Digital Camera Warehouse) and it was about $1100. For the serious bit of technology that is inside the K-1, it's worth every cent (and more in my opinion, but let's not tell them). With this 20% off (on again by the way), it's extremely competitively priced.
