Found an auction on ebay with several highly rated Tamron adaptall tele lenses. It will be interesting to see if they sell and at what price.

If I had the money I'd likely be on it for astrophotography lenses.

We could all pool our money and rotate, or choose the one we want the most. I lay claim to the 180mm.

There’s another with an Olympus Adapter for $375. I have so many lenses now that I’m actually going to pass. I’m selling all my Tammy except the SP35~80.

I don't blame you for wanting that 180/2.5 - it's a legend. It's on my radar, too, but for me the 400/4 is a must-have. It's a bit rough looking - and maybe the focus might need to be serviced - but I'd go up to $400 for it. I was thinking of contacting the seller about it.

I have the newer version of the 300/2.8 - the 360B - and it's a very good lens, if a bit of a diva. In fact, I was just shooting little birdies in the snow with it + 1.7x AFA.

I put it in my watching list days ago just want to see how high the price may go. I think $1,200 for these 3 good lenses is not asking too much, the only concern could be the real condition of that 400mm.

That happens often on ebay, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It's best to ask for additional photos and specific questions regarding the optics/operational condition of the lens in question.

We really don't know what the reserve price is, it could be $1,000 for all we know..

Exactly my thoughts... but the seller does offer returns.
BUT and this is a BIG BUT.. if its glass for sale then I don't see any glass in the pictures.

Also 300 is a 60b. Don't think it beats the DA*300/f4.
180 looks like a sharp lens.. but again DA*200 is a light monster.
400 may be.. But a review on PF makes me think the adaptall integration makes for sloppy focus and sloppy focal plane (as in the lens tilts given the weight) due to the interim but necessary adapters.

All in all this looks like an attractive package but given the usability of these lenses I would just get the DA*s if one does not need the 400.

Sold for $800, someone got a buy if they are in good working condition.

I agree. It will be interesting to see if we find any of these lenses in subsequent auctions.

It looks like $800 was the reserve price, since the prior maximum bid was $777.77 with $10 increments at that level. Buyer also put bids on 5 items in the last hour.

Well, the 60B beats the DA*300/f4 @ f/2.8! But these days the reason you get a 300/2.8 is because you have use for that f/2.8. Otherwise a 300/4 is smaller and has better handling, and modern DSLRs are good enough at higher ISO to minimize the necessity of f/2.8 in terms of light-gathering.

But... there is still something to be said for f/2.8 when you need to minimize both the foreground and the background (I have the 360B)...

And also, it works a treat with the 1.7x AFA; just dial in the manual focus fairly close to the subject and the 1.7x AFA locks in quickly...

I've never used the 400/4, but with my 300/2.8 and the larger 200-500/5.6 (31A) I've never had an issue with "sloppy focus and sloppy focal plane". However, twice I've had the Adaptall PK/A adapter disconnect itself from the lens.

I revoked my $1000 bid with a sniping tool cause my in-law's in the US have already four parcels with lenses parked in their house!
I didn't have the face to add another bulky parcel, and then ask my wife to ship everything to South East Asia.
Too much of a complication...
It would have been the perfect chance to keep the 400mm (and maybe two converters) for free. Selling the rest would have recovered the cost.
I don't like to sell such nice lenses, but in this case it would have been easier, as I already own the 180mm Anniversary, and the 300mm would have been kind of superfluous, cause I already have the A* 2.8/300.
The lucky ebayer who got everything for just 800 bucks would likely do the same.
A pity the seller was not in the EU, I would have been happy to take the risk...
It was an epic Adaptall-2 sale
