HD-DA 55-300 WR's (new) - $146.95 at B&H
Posted By: disasterfilm, 03-01-2018, 08:58 AM

This is $250 below their normal price. This is beyond plausibly cheap for a really fantastic budget zoom lens.

Though I don't need one, I'm having a hard time not buying.

Thanks much for the alert! Just ordered one fast at B&H in case it's a mistake or limited in quantity at that price.

If I didn't just get the PLM version, or if I had a camera that couldn't operate the PLM, I'd be all over this! Sharp lens and fairly fast aperture -- I think it stays at f/4.5 up to 190mm or something.

And they're out at BHPhoto.

I was in meetings most of the day and slept on this one... this would have been worth picking a fight with Ms. Christianrock

Looks like we cleared out their stock! But you can still place an order now to lock in the price, right?

" Maintains relatively fast F4-4.5 aperture until 210mm " according to the " in depth review " here at the forum

I bought it because there are just sometimes I need something longer than the 18-135 and I not carry g around the Sigma 150-500...There have been times I've regretted giving my father my DA L...

I was able to place an order at that price. Including 4-7 day shipping to Australia it cost less than I sold my second hand copy for 6 months ago.

is it better than the comparable (in both price and focal length) Tamron?

Yes, if you're talking about what's available in the K-mount currently. This deal would be a no-brainer.

I debated and argued with myself for two days. And myself won out. I ordered mine just now.

I had an older non WR version some time ago but I think it was damaged because it back focused really bad, and couldn't be adjusted enough to suit me, so I returned it. Usually 300mm is not long enough for my backyard birds without a large crop of the birds I shoot, i.e., tiny Finches or the Yellow Rumped Warbler............ but we'll see if this one is any better.

Wow, hard to pass up for about $160. I've got a couple other lenses that can reach 300 mm, but nothing WR. Between the the 55-300 and my 16-85, that's should be a decent WR kit.

Obviously would've preferred the PLM version, but that's a killer deal for a telephoto WR lens.
