It's not the camera making this special, but the uncommon 55mm f/2 lens.

The 55/2 is super common with M42 mount, though. Is it a pain to shoot M42 on a Kmount film camera?

I think this was posted because that version of the K1000 is supposed to be one of the best models. K55 f2 is not uncommon.

Top plate with the bump makes this an early-run camera. The bump covers the battery check pin location on a KX. Early K1000’s were essentially a KM internally (KM also has the bump on the top plate). They were more robust cameras than the Hong Kong and China versions.

It was common Pentax practice on budget versions of premium cameras to disable a feature that actually remained in the camera, e.g. 1/1000 shutter speed on Spotmatic SP500 was available but not printed on the dial. You could actually turn the dial past 1/500 and achieve 1/1000 shutter speed.

The seller also has a black Nikon FM and NIKKOR AI 50/1.8 listed.

It's the least common K1000 combo.Body stamped with Japan on the rear and the 55 f2.Even more uncommon if it had the original 1st issue manual.

If indeed, it came from the factory that way. The K 55/2 is not particularly common, but hardly rare.

The auction ended at $89.75, which is an reasonable price for a K1000 in decent condition in the Portland market. Body-only in a shop would be over $140.

Seller also has a Chinon 45mm pancake in K-mount, UW-Nikkor 15/2.8 (w/finder), and several other interesting cameras/lenses. (Nikon is gone )

I know where the K1000 went but I don’t know about the Nikon..

EDIT @stevebrot The Nikon FM combo is still there if you are interested, but pricey at $179.xx

The price is a little high, even with lens. I am very wary of cameras with spot corrosion on hot-shoe and small brightwork and that listing raised my suspicions.

I actually don't have a K1000. I figured a Japan body was worth adding and the K55/2 will come in handy.

Kinda chilly to be camping in your part of the woods isn’t it? (Doesn’t affect a manual film camera, of course),

Seems like a fair price to me, these are the best ones.
