Amazon has the DA 560mm lens on sale for $3,204.90. It was $3,999 a few days ago.

This is admittedly a dumb question but I have always wondered why it is so long and skinny.

As I have one, I am led to understand that the design is based on a "telescope" lens element designer rather than the more expensive design of the FA*600mm F4.0

Looks like the 560 for APS-C does not sell well... no wonder considering its dimensions.

Sadly, I think you are right but those who have it have produced some wonderful photos. The price didn't help either. And it just looks funny, not that that would keep me away if I could afford the lens

I am within a month of paying off my credit cards after my May trip out west. Man this is tempting. The length does not bother me as a gimbal head is a wonderful thing. MUST RESIST!!!!!!!

Looks like the sale is over.
Amazon and B&H are both back to $3,996.95. Adorama stayed at $3,996.95 the whole time.
