Pentax SMC PENTAX-FA* 80-200mm f/2.8 IF & ED Auto Focus Lens | eBay

From the description:

QuoteQuote:
CONDITION
Appearance condition : Good!! 8/10
Optical Condition : There are many fungus in the lens.
Mechanical Function : No problem
Shutter : No problem
Aperture : Clean
Focusing : No problem
The ad of course uses the "good" part not the fungus part to draw you in...

No affiliation with this sale. Just wanted to laugh with others about the "Optimistic ways" of some sellers.

This is why I always send a message asking for the specifics where I specifically inquire about fungus, scratches, cleaning marks etc. to make sure even though the listing says one thing, the seller confirms it back to you. I've had some sellers pull the listing after asking these questions to then relist it with a description that discloses what I've inquired about. I've also had a few I've filed a claim for, which have all gone in my favor.

All that aside, I've had some very positive experiences from Japanese sellers, and in general have found their descriptions accurate. I like the way many of them break apart cosmetic versus optical descriptions. However, I generically dislike bait and switch, which is what I consider it when you use a cosmetic description to advertise an items that is functionally defective. I see some sellers that do that regularly, and it would be pretty unlikely for me to buy anything from them as a result.

If "Good!! 8/10" = "There are many fungus in the lens." then I'd love to know what 7/10 is. No front element?

AAAAAAUUUGGHH!

We really need a new barfing emoji . Wow... that is just sad. Looks like a barn find... a barn with a leaky roof!... or no roof!
Eric

Edit: I take that back... if we had a barfing emoji, people might start using it on my picture posts! LOL!

The Hasselblads are up 33% - $405 - from the last time I clicked on that link. Admittedly I don't know the value here but they sure don't look like $405 worth, and bidding continues.

Seriously??? There are lots of insane folks out there or they are worth stripping to bare metal for repair, since I doubt those lenses can be saved.

I can't believe this one:

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II 2 Digital Camera Black Body Only | eBay

The seller says "The camera works great but has a crack in the front image sensor unit". The sensor looks like it was shot with a pellet gun! I have a hard time believing the camera "works great.". It might make camera noises, but I doubt the output would be called satisfactory.

That's an unboxing video I want to see. Especially if the winning bidder's spouse could be there.

I could just hear the famous shower attack background sound track from Psycho playing while they unbox that...

I would much prefer to gamble on something like this... for the price, and least it looks do-able for cleaning and would be a bargain if it works out, especially if you have the skills to DIY it.
