Selective sales at varying markdowns make an interesting snapshot as to what might or might not be selling, what might be being discontinued and what has a softer RRP - not hard and fast, but worth a moment's consideration.

That's a good point really - there is lots to consider in that clearance list!

My guess is the big spenders have all gone to K-1s and are no longer interested in APS-c gear.

Would I have a DA*55 for 499 instead to 779 if they weren't? Plus for the big spenders, no one's going to drop money on the 55 1.4, when the DFA*50 1.4 is better. The 55 has become a lens without a mission. That's good for people like me.

It's going to be hard to afford it if the sale continues.

BTW, the DA*55mm is now going for $629 at McBain - not quite as enticing a price but still not bad...

Funny but, that probably would have been expensive enough that I just passed on it. Someone once told me "You don't really want to buy lenses, you want to steal lenses." To which I would add "Legally of course."

The only problem I ever had with the 55 was the price, As its is I got a DA* for $150 less than i paid for my DA 18-135. That definitely feels like theft.

I made sure Tess kept the car running outside the door in case I needed quick get away.

I'm saving for a flagship APSC (I really feel like I tapped out the full potential of my K-S2 and am looking for something more capable and new)

After that, I really want a fast, new, UWA, but I'm probably going to be broke buying the a new body, so that one might not be as fast, new, or wide...

My two lenses arrived last week: the DA 50-135 (last one) and DA* 55 for 925 USD including shipping. For US buyers McBains will provide an account to which you can make a wire transfer in USD. A bit of a hassle, but well worth if for this sale! Quite a helpful group of people over at McBains: I'd certainly give them my business again!

Someone took that literally and wiped out mine a few months ago.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope you have the means and a plan to rebuild.

I've replaced them and even went a bit overboard

Glad to help! Hope you enjoy the lens!
Thanks. Received it a couple of weeks ago (the 50-135mm). I didn't have a real opportunity to use it yet, but I did some tests shooting my friend's dog, and I really love the rendering. A steal at that price...
