Looks like it could have been dug up at the beach almost. At least the listing is honest:

SMC Pentax-A 50mm 1:1.2 Super Fast Lens For Pentax LX, ME Super Etc Cameras | eBay

Always wonder what the story is behind something like this.

Fungus can happen during storage. The dents and abrasion on the exterior are a mystery. It's not just from a few drops onto concrete. It looks like hundreds of small impacts.

Was the lens rolling around in someone's car trunk for years???
I think maybe the engine, rather than the trunk.

I could see it being a good gamble for the glass - if its really just fungus on the inside, it looks like it's possibly cleanable.

Or, it could be a good price for a lens to attempt to fix, regardless of if one succeeds.

Is that fungus or just hundreds of scratches on the lens? I honestly can't tell. There's definitely some larger cracks in the glass.

It and the camera it was on were dropped into a limb shredder?

Buy it and send it to these guys.

The description mentions fungus. There's so much fungus that it hides any scratches.

ah yes. reading the description would have helped. I was just mesmerized by all the damage, yet still looked relatively intact.

Yeah, the body looks horrible, but yet doesn't really seem to have any real dents/ distortions, mostly paint damage and fungus.

Looks to me from the highlights/reflections on the rear element there are a fair number of scratches.

Looks like it had lengthy submersion.

At least it doesn't say "EXCELLENT+++ MINT" like so many listings for iffy stuff does nowadays.
