I am a collector of F glass and would LOVE to swap the FA* version for this lens. Such a rare beast - very rare.

Quite a fascinating item! Didn't even know this lens existed. As a collectors item, it's definitely cool but as a practical lens I don't think it's worth $5300USD.

We should discuss this more if you're serious. It's my only F* lens, and I would love to add the FA* version to my FA* 24 and FA* 80-200.

It's worth it. And it's not a collector's item, but then again I live so close to Yellowstone it's a lens I grab often. Actually I might be able to go a step closer and say this lens has saved my life because I didn't have to get closer to the bears. Have you been to any migratory bird hot spots, major sporting events, or looked at a National Geographic magazine? What kind of equipment do you think is making those photos and videos and how much $$ do you think people have invested??
