The HD D FA 24-70 is $991 at B&H, which I think is pretty good.

B&H is crazy right now.

Great lens, I really like mine. Two years ago at the previous low price which I believe was $520 it was down to this lens or the Sigma 17-70 C. I went for the 16-85 and think I made the right choice. I did not get as good a deal but I had it and really enjoyed using it for the last two years.
Edit: I looked at B&H and there some other good discounts like DA*300 at $896 and the 55-300 PLM at $359. That is about as low as I have seen these two lenses available for.
