Also just got an e-mail that this is available through the Pentax web store for $1799, albeit without the free grip:

Just curious as to why the Adorama listing shows the lens as "HD Pentax-D FA L 28-105mm F3.5/5.6 ED". Is this kit lens different to the "HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR" that the Ricoh store is listing? I wasn't aware there was an FA L version (similar to the DA L series).

The "L" is probably just a typo. There is only the one lens. Maybe if it ships in a kit it does not have a separate box or something non-essential like thatl

Typo. They have many more:

"D HD"

"SMCP" gets stamped on just about everything
