What the heck fire is Boxing Day? I've seen it on Commonwealth calendars for years, but no one in America has been able to explain....maybe an patient Aussie on this thread will finally explain the origins and thus, the name.....

Essentially, it originated in the UK, celebrated on 26 December, as the second day of Christmastide, and also called Saint Stephen's Day (but colloquially referred to as Boxing day in Aus).
