Sale of K70 and lens for $A999.

If nothing else, good advertorial for Pentax

That price is way over the odds. The K-70 with DA 18-55 is available (from an authorised Australian seller, with full Pentax warranty) for $A759.20 at present (using the code "Pilot"): PENTAX K-70 DSLR (BLACK) + 18-55MM WR LENS 27075297425 | eBay (offer expires 24 July).

The KP (body only) has been on sale a number of times in the last 12 months for around $A850. It's currently $879.20 in the DCXpert sale: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PENTAX-KP-SILVER-BODY-ONLY-DIGITAL-SLR-CAMERA-/232273472219 I think it's well worth the extra $100-$150 over the K-70.

It is surprising to see a TV promotion for Pentax though.

The TVSM ads have been fairly frequent...I dont watch it but channel surf alot
At least since the K-50 these adds have been on...I first noticed......... with different bundles

thanks Des,

that was the first time that I had ever seen any ads for Pentax on TV, mostly it's Nikon.

It was quite a good promo even if it wasn't the best price available, I couldn't get a K70 and lens at that price when I bought mine in 2018.
