Pentax K-70 Body

At this moment it looks like Amazon has the K-70 body down to $494.89:
amazon.com : Pentax K-70 Weather-Sealed DSLR Camera, Body Only (Black)?tag=pentaxforums-20&
No idea how long the price will last.

I have to agree. If the deal was on the silver body, I would be ordering.

Very tempting - How much of a step-up is this vs a gen-1 K3 or KS2?

Quick glance of specs seems like more a side grade.

I would say main step up from K-3 would be improved high ISO performance, articulated screen and pixel shift resolution. However, you give up flag-ship build quality (including quiet shutter), burst frame rate, get an older AF system and less capable metering. WiFi is available but has some bugs.

Compared to the K-S2, build is virtually identical but resolution is improved. You also get 14-bit RAW (instead of 12-bit), plus the pixel shift resolution.

Thanks for pointing this out!! The deal is still in effect. $495 for the K-70 is too good a deal to pass up so I pulled the trigger. Of all the smaller camera bodies that I've used, my favorite in terms of control layout and handling is the KS-2. The K-70 is very similar, but with somewhat improved image quality. These two bodies should pair well for a compact travel kit.

Congrats on the new camera, I've found some pretty good deals in this sub-forum as well!

It looks like the price is back up to $546.95. Congratulations on getting one at a great price.

Wow, that deal didn't last long. For once I managed to act before the price went back up.

Of course it's still a good deal at $547. Say what you want about Pentax, their camera bodies provide a lot of bang for the buck.

Well, the price is back down again! The joys of automated dynamic pricing.
It also looks like B&H is matching it.

I certainly wasn't expecting that good a deal with free extras. They still want $100 more for the silver version though.

It seems to be the best K70 deal at the moment, EUR zone prices are significantly higher
