once a week i check the price on this lens... down to $2861 now

($3999 at bh and adorama)

That is a great price! I once noticed the same deal a month ago from Amazon.

I then noticed the 150-450 with 5 payments of $399 and change for 5 months! (Plus tax, of course!) So they would pay the interest and not run my credit card balance up. Hmmmm, but I prefer to shop with actual photo stores, so I think I will just save up and see how badly I really want one of the big ones.

I think I want them badly but even with the pay over time offer, it does not make budgetary sense. but it is tempting though!

With the payment plan, you will not earn the 5% rebates on Prime Card. That's the trade off.

I do not want to spread negativity, but with some of the better prices on amazon, i hat some surprises. They sometime sell used items as new, and in a case i received the wrong product (but the price was so sweet that it did not make sense to send it back).

Even if the lens is one that was use and sent back to amazon, it is still a sweet deal. I have seen one recently sold on ebay for a similar price, used of course.

Yes, it is Amazon Prime Card. Prime member gets 5% rebates for any purchase made on Amazon.com. But if you take payment plan, you won't get 5%. For others who don't use Amazon card, it doesn't matter since there's no such payment plan to begin with.
