$300 more than a few days ago. It is a great bargain if one needs that focal range.

if it was a 600 f4, i would have bought it and sold off a motorcycle to pay for it! i already have the 150-450, so $3000 for an extra 110mm, same aperture, worse ca, and similar? af doesn't make any sense.

If the lens were 600/4, it would be at least triple the price

Vs the 150-450, the 560 is probably sharper and is reportedly optimized for shooting more distant subjects. To me the biggest problem with the 560 is that it is sized like a 600/4.

My experience with the 150-450 is that it's very good at the long end, at least with my KP. Seems like I've seen that comment in other reviews as well. The 560 would have to be a LOT better to justify the increase in size and cost. If spending that much money, I'd honestly look for a good copy of a 250-600 instead.

Yep, that's where I am. The shots I get with my 150-450 are so good, I can't see putting this type of money into a lens that is fractionally better, if really better. For normal viewing, I bet you'd be pressed to tell the difference between an upsampled and cropped shot from the 150-450 and the 560. Would be fun if someone had both lenses and could run a quick test for us.

I don't think the 560 is meant to be a good value vs the 150-450... you buy the 560 simply because you want (and can afford) it.

In NIkonland, there's the 200-500/5.6 and 500/5.6, and the reasons people prefer the 500 is that it is smaller and lighter than the 200-500, has better AF, and is a bit sharper. For us, the sheer size of the 560 makes the decision more ambiguous.

I still want the 560 though Earlier this summer I seriously contemplated buying the A* 600/5.6, but chickened out and got the K 500/4.5 instead.

At sub $3k price, the 560mm is definitely a bargain and will retain its value in foreseeable future. Whether one needs it or not is another story though.

The pictures I have seen from this lens are impressive but the size and price are tough.

The price is actually more than OK though. $3000 for that specification is very good - the Nikon 500/5.6 PF is $3600 and the Sigma 500/4.5 is $4500.

But the size... oy vey.

There's just no way I could carry that lens around. Even for $2000 it would be a pass for me.
