Wow - I had no idea lens & camera rentals were so expensive! That being said, I suppose I can see the "value" in renting a $1500 lens for $150 to see whether or not you really like it, but still, roughly 10% cost of new for seven days seems steep to me (even 8.5% with the 15% off coupon).

I have no connection with lensrental or any other company that rents equipment other than a satisfied customer

the market sets the price

have you found any other place that rents what you need and at what cost

yes, it cost money, shocking fact that

but you can spend a little and find out if you like it or spend a lot and see if you like it

btw, you may get a chance to buy the equipment with the rental fee as a discount

There is no place within 100 miles from me that rents lenses, so this concept is foreign to me. Pricing is subjective, and that's why I said that it seems experience to /me/. I meant nothing against YOU at all, so please do not take it personally.

I do agree that spending a little up front to see whether or not you like a lens is a good idea. Pretty cool that they even offer your rental fee towards the cost of a lens as well. Thank you for sharing.

Event at the cost, it might be worth it depending on what you need the lens for (like a vacation).

I had a event I wanted to shoot last month, and rented the 300m F2.8 and the 150-450mm. My 55-300 just wasn't going to cut it. I liked the 300m, not so much 150-450mm.

2 years ago I rented the K-P, and didn't like it much more than my K-3. However, the 50-135mm I rented 4 years ago was incredible, so I picked one up quick after that

A lot of people rent lenses to produce income. $150 for a week might serve several income-producing events, making it a reasonable business overhead for a professional.
