Just noticed this new listing for a SMC PENTAX-F 28mm f/2.8 lens on eBay. Seller indicates it is an estate find, so hard to gauge if there are any issues. Price is considerably lower than I normally see these listed for and offers are accepted too. I have no connection with the seller, just passing on something I spotted. I already have a copy that I paid quite a bit more for.

When I'm dealing with ebay, I know the max I want to pay before I bid and I set my max price and place one bid just before bidding ends so I don't get caught up in a bidding frenzy and do something stupid! Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Yes never bid on a item until minutes before the end. Otherwise all you do is inform others that you are interested in the item and will drive up the bidding at the end

Sold for $97 plus shipping. Someone got a pretty good deal, as I expected it to go higher. However, it was described as an FA and the auction timing was not great (only 6:22 AM on the west coast).

Perhaps slightly off topic but right now I have a little battle between my F28 and HD DA20-40 (in full frame mode on the K-1). I am essentially able to get near 28mm FoV shots on the K-1 without too much of a crop, I perhaps end up with a 3:2 aspect ratio shot of 30mp shot. It might be f2.8 or 3.something however...

The thing is the HD coating is really nice, and I no longer feel comfortable shooting the F28 toward the sun, it doesn't do flare nicely. Add to the fact that the 20-40 is silent AF, WR and has other zoom settings, it's quite a nice alternative (although price wise wildly different).

It may be I end up selling the F28, I know I definitely will if I ever secure a FA31, but the F28 is sharp... super sharp wide open which is really nice and for the price I think it seems to be quite a bit superior to the manual focus 28mm glass floating about, and you get AF... bargain.

That was a good deal. I received the one I purchased(original post) and looks to be in really good shape, no dust or marks I can see. Test shot so far look good too.
