Sigma 800mm f5.6 in Pentax mount
Posted By: boriscleto, 12-30-2019, 12:06 PM

Used Sigma 800mm F5.6 APO EX Lens - Pentax Fit| | Unboxed | Very Good | ParkCam

I'm very suspicious. Never heard of this lens ever being made in K mount.

I bought stuff from Park Cameras before. Genuine business and the lens too.

Sigma 800mm F5.6 APO EX Launched June 1999 - Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd

Also the newer version:

The first link you posted shows the Sigma 800/5.6 was NOT made in K-mount. (which was the OP's concern)

And I don't think the 500/4.5 in the second link is the newer version of the 800/5.6.

Indeed, the second one has a bad link even on Sigma's website from their listing page. But the first one was made in K-mount, it clearly says on the bottom of page. Just need to scroll all the way down.

Wow, a moon bazooka. At 4.8kg it will need some tripod too.

Also, would the mount need adjusting for the K-1 or is this too old? No I'm not looking to buy!.

When I followed the link, the rest of the page was obscured by a "Cookies Notice" at the bottom. Clicking X to delete that notice resulted in seeing the complete list of mounts, listed like this:

Sigma AF, Canon AF, Nikon AF
(HSM)
Pentax, Minolta

If it is a Pentax mount, it would work perfectly fine on the K-1, as is.

Thank you, I had the "Cookies Notice" yucatan pointed out.

I wonder if Kevin B123 means the issue where some Sigma lenses had to be sent back to Sigma for an adjustment so they wouldn't scratch the K-1.

QuoteQuote:
When some SIGMA interchangeable lenses for Pentax mount are attached to the PENTAX K-1, the upper part of the mount can be scratched.
※This phenomenon is due to the interference with the shape of the upper part of the mount on the PENTAX K-1 camera body and it does not occur to any cameras other than PENTAX K-1.
It's not on Sigma's list for this problem, though.

Is this the rarest K-Mount lens? (Sigma 800mm f5.6) - PentaxForums.com

It's the 300-800 I'm thinking of that wasn't made in K-mount.

So this lens is seeming like an incredible deal. A quick Google searching is turning up prices $6000+. What am I missing (besides money)?

This is a pretty good source for older Sigma lenses.

SIGMA History 1961-2010 - Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd

And a very good price for this lens from Park Cameras...

Entry added to the Lens review section for this lens, previously unlisted, which I had not ever heard of before. Sigma 800mm F5.6 APO EX

In case anyone buys this one (or another one) please give us all a review! At nearly 2000 GBP, it may be a touch too expensive for me, especially at this time of year. And how much for shipping that monster over here?

42nd St Photo says they have one, Brand New, for Pentax mount in stock at $6,999 USD: https://www.42photo.com/Product/sigma-800mm-f-5-6-ex-dg-apo-hsm-lens-for-pentax/105954
