Having bought a couple of Takumars recently, yes; I did notice.

No idea why though.

Wow, that's a big increase (and a total rip-off). I have three, all bought used, two for around €30 each and the other essentially free with a bunch of other stuff i got.

That price seems a bit steep.

But so is the price in Canada: CAD $85-90.

We know that this OEM adapter is excellent quality and works well. Still, I think it's expensive for a small piece of machined metal. I'll admit that I paid full retail price (CAD $80, IIRC) a number of years ago, and am very happy with it every time I use my Takumar lenses.

The have always been around, but in recent years availability in some markets has been spotty with high official prices. Current pricing U.S. pricing is outrageous ($89.95 at B&H).

I bought mine when it was about AU$50. Not just that adapter, the price of Pentax in general has had a huge jump in price over the past few years, dollar conversion? When the global financial thing was on and the dollar was at parity with the U.S. dollar that was the time to buy, currently about 1 AUD = 0.673590 USD.
I want to visit Scotland, but not at 1 AUD = 0.516670 GBP.

I acquired most of the ones i have from cheap K-mount bodies on eBay that had a screw mount lens attached. I knew there was an adapter in there but didn't know if it was OEM or third party. Luck turned out in my favor in most cases.
I also found a new boxed Ricoh version, which is just the Asahi Pentax one repackaged, at a great price. I would certainly be reluctant to fork out $90 US for one.

Wait for Brexit to fully kick in and the economy to go down the toilet and the exchange rate will be substantially better for you. Shouldn't take more than two or three years.
