I casually mentioned the sale to my wife last night and her reply was "15% isn't enough, it's got to be at least 20%". So she's not disallowing a purchase outright then................at least that was my interpretation.

To quote another poster ......aaaaaarrrrgh!
I always buy from the Pentax webstore during their sales. They come several times a year. If you can't afford it now, maybe you can later.

The danger though is that the base prices will rise. The base price of the150-450 (amongst others) is considerably greater now than several years ago. I actually bought mine during a 20% off sale at dcxpert in 2017, CRK's eBay store. Strangely, the 150-450 is even more expensive there now than on the non-sale main store, but it's always worth checking.

Yes, I have noticed recent price rises on the 150-450mm, as I have been drooling over that lens since before I even bought my KP in June last year (together with the 55-300mm PLM, the 100mm f2.8 Macro, and the 16-85mm zoom, all from either DCxpert or C R Kennedy). I have also noticed in recent weeks the price of the KP D-BG7 battery grip and the PentaxTeleconverter 1.4x have also gone up, and that the prices differ between DCxpert and Pentax au.

I am currently about to spend a large amount on having a landscape/garden design company create a garden oasis in my back yard, firstly to beautify a (fairly large) barren back yard, but also with plants most likely to attract birds and butterflies (my favorite photo subjects, along with flowers and other insects) so the budget is a little too stretched to include the 150-450mm at the moment. Will just have to continue to drool over it, and admire the great pics other PF members are taking with it.

Sigh......

Shouldn't the 150-450 be part of that budget then?! I'd have thought that was the whole point

and dcxpert ... whilst sometimes 20%... are capped to max of $300..... maybe?

On the other hand.... from a backyard design perspective.... over time you should ba able to get quite close to birds etc.... so the PLM could work quite well.... make sure the yard is designed so you can use various spots as a sorta hide... with sun/light working for you etc.

Ahhh...but now, if eBay has a 20% off that includes DCXPERT...well then, the goal has been reached.

Granted, the DCXPERT stuff is mostly not quite as cheap as directly through CRK, but it ticks the 20% off box!

Unfortunately, 20% is rare nowadays on eBay too, and often comes with a $300 cap or some such thing.

Yes - the plan is that the garden will start just opposite the door from my lounge room, so I am hoping that I will be able to quietly open that door, and shoot from inside the lounge room - within reasonable working range of the 55-300mm at 300mm. The other end will be opposite the one large tree in whose shade I could sit on a folding picnic chair, camera mounted on my VanguardAlta Pro 2+ 263 tripod. A bird bath at both locations is also planned. The closer to the start date, the more excited I get about how this will work. And my KP's 24 mp sensor allows for a fair amount of cropping anyway.

I'm wondering, Yesterday the website said "Due 20/7" and today it just says "Backorder Now" I'm wondering if that means all the units they had coming are currently pre-ordered, accounted for and sold, and any more ordered now, will have to wait until the next shipment arrives, whenever that may be????????

Don't know, still struggling to get this lens, 15% discount is good if compare to the price in US or EUR...

The price AUD 2244 after discounted to me is still expensive considering the current economy, and the size is another concern but seems this lens have a good balance with K1, anyway, still have few days to pull the trigger...
