Vivitar Series 1 100-500mm f5.6-8.0 lens on Shopgoodwill.com

Potentially some long reach on the cheap - I think this is k-mount, but am not 100% certain. That said, if you want to take a chance or can better determine the mount than I can via the internet (decent Vivitar Series 1 KA mount reference - https://simonhawketts.co.uk/2014/03/08/vivitar-series-1-70-210-mm-macro-zoom/#jp-carousel-3617), could be a low-cost manual focus option.

This is a later cosina made viv with PKA mount, so you will have on-camera aperture operation.

There’s a Sigma 600mm mirror lens there if that’s an acceptably perverse substitute?

No, I've done my mirror lens experiment(s). Two are still in the herd, but those are ones I did some searching for.

Well, the one I'd advise avoiding is the Tokina. The very early Sigmas were supposedly good. And believe it or not, there was a Spiratone (alert from the 60s and 70s) that was made by Tomioka (if memory serves) that was reportedly a gem. That one was a T-mount, so you can buy a T-to-PK mount for peanuts. Overall: Read up.

I’ve got the Tamron Adaptall II version and good for moonshots and sunspots but otherwise it’s okay.
