That was my presumption also.

2kg?? I admit that when I received mine (and I paid over $3000.00 for mine then!!!) I was very much taken aback by the weight (I am very average height, slight build, and 78 yrs old when it arrived). I figured it would be 95% on a tripod, or at least a monopod.

But I probably now shoot between 60-70% of the time with it handheld (see this handheld, at 1/125s shutter speed:

And its IQ, and ability to capture detail, is remarkable, must be just about equal to a prime lens. I thought I was being very self-indulgent when I bought it, but now I cannot imagine being without it! I am primarily interested in bird photography, so .......

Aaaah, yes ... Quite nice. But what is it like on green chain wire fences?

It was an oblique reference to DPR who used that test to argue that the DFA 50/1.4 was not so good.
