Pentax 16-45mm for $300 at Amazon

I just purchased a used copy of this lens through the marketplace here. Now I just have to wait for the truck to pull up to the house!

So I was surfing the web tonight, and it looks like Amazon.com has this lens on sale for about half price - $300.47 shipped. Probably no sales tax where I live. What a smokin' deal.

It makes my used purchase look less good

Gads, I wish people would stop posting GREAT links like these... makes my trigger finger get itchy all over again wanting to make an impulse buy!

From what I've read, this would make a great zoom complement to the DA 50-135 in a pinch and at a great price.

Ahh man how dare you post this link! Here I was saving up for the 16-50mm but this is really tempting me......... I don't know what to do now

16-50mm will probably just have to wait another day

It was a transaction here. The asking price was lowered to $260 plus actual shipping.

I just figure that if the street price for a new copy is this low, it will affect the used market as well. Pretty quickly.

I can't wait for my new (used) lens!

You're probably right, but not a whole lot. This lens is just a solid workhorse - unless some seller sets a ridiculous precident this lens is still easily worth $240-260 used depending on wear and what is included (caps, hood and filter all come to mind). It might be a tougher sell, but if you are buying from a member with good feedback then saving $50 is still saving $50!

Considering how these lenses hold up I had no problem with buying mine used from a member for 260 IIRC. Great lens for the money.

I couldn't resist.... I bought it. Thanks for the heads up. I'd been looking at the Russian Zenitar as a compromise to the $600 price point of the Pentax.

It's not a bad lens at all.. but I ended up just returning it

I took a chance on it being f4 but I realize I do shoot a lot of indoor, night scenes and find that this lens may not be in my needs for the moment.

I'll just stick to my newly acquired FA 50mm f1.4 as my everyday for now and get the DA 10-17mm as my UW. After that I might consider the 16-50 f.28 or the 17-70 f4.. Sigh only if money weren't the issue

I used the link you provided to check out the Amazon price for myself. You were reading the used price..... price for a new lens from Amazon is $389.
