I have been searching everywhere for a green linx spider (above).... I took this when I first got my macro lens of one eating a fly:

I feel like I could take a much better photograph now, so Im eager to give it a shot.

Sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX DG Macro with AF160FC ringflash

I don't know HOW you guys manage to get so close to your subjects with those shorter macro lenses. I have a Pentax 200mm f/4 but I need to repair the tripod collar on it.I'll have to compare the two at some point. though I have my doubts that the sigma will come close to the Pentax 200mm f/4 Macro's formidable resolution.

Yeatzee & Digitalis, its good to see some of the Sigma macro lenses in Action!

That was a colorful lynx.

Here is an adult tortoise beetle and below a larval tortoise beetle. Yes it is using frass as camouflage. Taken with the 105mm EX DG macro.

another example from the sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX DG Macro:

I'll warn you though the Pentax 200mm f/4 is one of the highest resolution lenses I own, but I don't like working with it with flash because of the 1/180th sync speed limitation that is typical of pentax DSLR bodies. The Pentax ringflash cannot do HSS. i also recently learned that the sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX DG has been discontinued...so i'm pretty stoked that I got mine when I did and for what I paid for it (650AUD)

Thanks! That shot sums up the personality of that bird perfectly, I don't think it could possibly be any grumpier if it tried.

I must say, I'm blown away by the quality of the macro shots in this thread - certainly puts my feeble efforts to shame (and no, I'm not going to show them
