I won't be making any other "bumps" to this thread, I just wanted to update the initial post and let those who were subscribed to this be made aware.

Awesome shots Alex. Keep your head down and be safe. Looking forward to incountry pics when time and events permit as I understand how busy and chaotic military ops can get at times. I'm not kidding I just read in the news that some silly GIs accidentally burnt some Korans out there and the country is in extra deep turmoil...

Thank you everyone for the warm comments! Boarding our flight was when we were told it was canceled, so two days later, we have reached the epitome of "Hurry up and wait."

But I did want to comment on the above Quran burning. That happened on the base that I was located on when I was located there. I wasn't going to mention it, however since you did, I'll elaborate a little bit. They were books part of the library utilized by the imprisoned at that base, and they were discovered to be used as mediums of spreading propaganda via extremist and hateful messages toward NATO/ISAF/American forces written inside them. They were confiscated and then told to be put in the burn pit, however when you have locals operating said burn pit, you can imagine they were discovered en route to being destroyed. Other than the several thousand that appeared outside the front gate to protest, I won't comment on the retaliation that ensued, but suffice it to say, it was a late night

And everytime I board a military aircraft, it reminds me of the demotivational poster that has a photo of an Airborne unit about to do a combat jump with the caption that reads
"RARE VIEW inside an actual can of whoop ass."

Here's to hoping for a successful flight....I'm starting to feel lazy without anything to do but read up on photography
