May 11th 2016:"Sunset paddle at Five Islands"

Five Islands is a deltaic wetland at the mouth of Cockle Creek where it mixes with the salt water of Lake Macquarie - Australia's largest single coastal lake. With protected mangrove and saltmarsh communities it is a haven for birds, as well as for passive recreational pursuits like recreational fishing and kayaking. So here's an uncropped sunset shot.

After yesterday's wide open colour splash, I thought I'd try a different route with the CZJ Pancolar 50/1.8 @ f22 hand-held (and it shows).

A bit miffed with myself today. The one day I did not take the camera with me to Zoo Lake- what happens. A beautiful rainbow makes an appearance. Bummer! Anyway, back to the home front.


And passed through an Industrial area today, so thought i'd give it a shot for SI-Nay- just too ugly

Left it late today as it was looking quite promising sunset-wise but.....no!
So instead of a sunset all I have is the sundial.

This is a bit of a safety shot - inspired by my own efforts with the roses a few days back, I gave things a crack with the Sodial Extension Tube #1. Couldn't get the saturation all the way to true red without clouding a lot of detail, so I cheated and went for monochrome.

For a lens which really wasn't designed for macro duties and a cheap Chinese extension tube set, I think this is doing pretty well as a hand-held macro rig.

Camera time was scarce today so I went to the garden for inspiration after work.

The sun was low and I managed to take a couple of shots of this red novelty just as the sun was approaching the flower, with everything else in the shade. I think I confused the camera a bit with this backlit scene as the reds came out very interesting.

First of all, I liked this picture better, but decided that it was not sufficiently special to represent this day. It will go as a runner-up.
