So, when it converts to greyscale, I take a look at the effect that various shades of filters (harkening back to B/W film days) have on the overall shot, and when I get it where I want, I let it finish processing. then I'll tweak levels and curves to finish it off. I guess what really helps was the prior darkroom experience I had way back in HS in a photo class...that "feel" for what looks "right" to me.
As for the time notation Michael, it's from flying (reading map coordinates in degrees (o), minutes (') and seconds ("). The "crazing" was a crack in that section of the pot, but I didn't notice it on other holes. We did have two other ceramic planters start flaking apart which I guess was cuased by some water getting in cracks and then freezing this winter. Perhaps a future subject for the month.
There are a couple of neat simple film effects in PSP, I use the Film pack from DXO more, i'd say it falls somewhere between psp and the Nik package for flexability ( i use it for the various films it emulates in some cases very well (Pan F for instance)
For the PSP I like the Palladium print function.
Oh and another set of nice flowers looking forward to seeing some here for Single in April if we're lucky
